The day began like this
“Amma, do you know you are quirky!!”
I was unsure how to take this, yet put that perfect mum smile back and hummed the hmm hmm as the dialogue continued.
“So you know that it is so so so difficult to think of gifts for you”
Aha, now that’s where this is heading -Mother’s day. Back with that hmm hmm and pretending to busy and letting her say.
“How about I make you the chia pots and then we can both have some?”
“Sure” I blurted out as the damage was minimal!! Ha! I really thought this was heading elsewhere. Thank God it was only chai pots.
My Chia pots are not really the most exotic creations. there is a secret to it which is w by the kids prefer mine over the store-bought stuff. The chai spice mix. The subtle flavours of cinnamon and ginger in this spice blend make my chia pots taste exotic.
Why chia?
The edible seeds of Salvia hispanica which bloom when added to a liquid is what we call chia. Chia seeds are added to the superfood list and considered the best in the weight management goals. To be precise, these seeds can provide a lot of minerals with minimal calories addition. These seeds also happen to be a complete protein providing 9 amino acids that the body cannot manufacture. They have a higher omega 3 fatty acid content that makes them attractive to vegan food additions. Since the carb content is in the form of fibre majority, it does classify under health eats.
On this blog, I have used chia along with pumpkin in a popsicle and in dates and nuts ladoos. These quick chia pots are more versatile as you can vary the fruits seasonally and it will be well-loved each time at breakfast especially in summer. since it is pretty much made ahead and on the go, it serves our crazy morning runs. The best part is these chai spiced chia pots are so filling. The Chai spice mix is also home made and tastes phenomenal – here is the link you can click.
The images here are the ones the kids made for me for Mother’s day. With those teen special hugs, they were a celebration indeed. As I linger on to a bit more of the rare hugs, you whip up a chia pot for yourself. Share with us how you are doing with the kids. what foods do they prefer having? Leave us some ideas in the comments.
