As much as we love rice, we dig into a good bowl of pasta. Of late, we have been loving a creamy delicious, goat cheese pasta. That tangy flavour of the goatcheese pairs well with a basic tomato pasta sauce to create magic in every bite. So join us as we dig into our new favorite, goat cheese pasta.
Ingredients to make goat cheese pasta
Pasta: the pasta I choose for thick sauces like this is fusilli. This spring like twisted pasta, on the surface has grooves to hold the sauce well for every bite. You can use freshly made orecchiette, ziti, or taglietelle too to make this recipe.
Sauce:tomato sauce base is used in this recipe. You can use store bought marinara or passata (add the herbs in later) or make one from scratch.
To make your own sauce
- Saute finely chopped garlic in olive oil.
- Add the the tomato base, seasoned with salt and pepper.
- Chop and add herbs like oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary.
- Adjust Season with salt, sugar (to balance the acidity of a tomato and pepper.
- Simmer this mix so the flavours are infused and the sauce is ready.
Cheese: the creamy goat cheese is the one that gives flavour to this recipe. The goat cheese is actually different from feta. Feta is usually made with sheep’s milk and has a crumble texture. You will find that the goat cheese is much more delicate and creamy in flavour and texture. This allows it to blend well into the sauce creating that creamy touch.
Herbs and seasonings: to this goat cheese pasta recipe, I love to add fresh oregano, basil and rosemary. You can add more basil, however I find it a bit too strong for the delicate creamy sauce.

Mealprep and storage
Goat cheese pasta is one perfect recipe for mealprep. The pasta doesn’t dry up of go soggy as there is enough richness to keep it intact. It stays good for 3 to 4 days in the fridge and thaws up well. Though I haven’t frozen this batch, I can assure you it will just be perfect.
What pairs well with a pasta?
Here will be my ideal wish list to go with a creamy pasta like this one- roasted green veggie platter with capsicum, Brussels sprouts, peas and broccoli. For a lighter option you can go with a salad like the edamame salad or the whitebean cranberry salad.
Can we use other cheeses to make this recipe?
Though it won’t be goat cheese pasta any more you can use ricotta or classic cream cheese to make the same recipe. The resultant pasta has the flavours of the type of cheese you have added.
Can we make this pasta vegan?
I would strongly advise you not to. The whole recipe is connected to goat cheese. Unfortunately, it takes ot away from the idea. If you are looking for a vegan pasta, try
lentil penne or
chilli spaghetti.
