Collect the ingredients
The creamy peas pasta is one that pleases all ages. It is one we started making with the kids and stayed along all the way making our dinners easy. Here are the ingredients that you need to make this easy pasta
Short cut pasta –one-pot pasta recipes do well with short cut pasta. This is because the cooking time is very short for these. Also, the choice of pasta depends on the type of sauce used. Since the sauce here is a light creamy one, the lighter pasta like ziti, orecchiette, or macaroni will work well.
Frozen peas– the ease of this dinner is in the fact that frozen peas cook just in two minutes, yet are nutritious and fibre rich. We use the peas in our gnocci recipe too.
Cream- pouring style cream is the base for the sauce here. I have used it straight out of the can. Along with the added flavours, the cream adds a delicateness to one-pot pasta
Flavours – I have used black pepper and mixed Italian herbs to flavour this pasta. The Italian herb mix is a dry mix with oregano, rosemary, basil and thyme predominantly. There is a bit of marjoram added too. If you like you can add dried onion flakes, dried garlic and chilli flakes to the mix. This is very handy to flavour your pasta or flavoured toasts.

Other additions
There are a good number of variations you can make with this pasta.
Garlic – chopped fresh garlic, sauteed first and then add the pasta and the rest of the ingredients. This gives a garlicky one-pot pasta you can make.
Pesto– along with the cream stir in a tablespoon of pesto. Oh my God! That is the best quick one-pot pesto pasta you can have at dinner
Cheese- stir in shredded mozzarella when the pasta is warm of that creamy cheese pasta, that too made quicker than ever.

Fresh or frozen peas?
Frozen peas are as simple as tossing in and stirring towards the finish to make this pasta. However, if you are using fresh peas, saute them first and then add the pasta to help them cook. You can replace the fresh peas with snap peas or snow peas to this recipe. Trim the ends and pull off the tough string. Slice them in half and add them straight as soon as the pasta is aldente.

Serving suggestions
At times it is important to make it a complete meal. The pasta is perfect with white bean cranberry salad. As a munch on the side, we usually put out some Foccacia with olive oil, and balsamic dipping sauce.
