Enjoy the tastiest and easiest of Indian sweet recipes for the festive season with this doodh peda recipe. This milk fudge is melt in the mouth with almost zero effort. So, what are you waiting for?
Don’t slog over the stove to make a batch of the fudge, milky , most popular Indian sweet, doodh peda. This milk fudge is easily made in the microwave. It is not often that my kids ask for a recipe. However, when they do it feels immensely happy. Invariably these will be the ones that we commonly hack. This Diwali was kind of hurried with the moving house, work loads, traveling children etc. That left very little time to be together and get some bakshanams (snacks) done. Then dawned the idea that I had learnt a long long while ago and forgotten, the quick doodh peda made in the microwave. Since it comes together in 15 to 20 minutes, it was the perfect solution. While eating, my daughter did ask, is this recipe on your blog? Now that was my happy moment this is probably why I wanted to have the blog, so it is possible to have a tried and tested recipe.
What is doodh peda?
Doodh peda is a fudge like sweet treat made for Indian festivals. This is traditionally made by boiling down milk till it is almost evaporated leaving the milk solids that are further cooked down with sugar and cardamom till they almost roll up like a ball. This instant version however utilizes milk powder and condensed milk. flavourwise, they stay close to the original ones too. kesar( saffron) elaichi (cardamom) or rose essence is commonly used to flavour these pedas.
Storing the pedas.
The pedas stay good for 3 to 4 days in room temperature. However, they stay better in texture and taste if stored in the refrigerator. This can be for upto 3 weeks. I have not tried freezing these as they are so easy yo make as needed.
